About

Olivia Saporito (b. 1998) lives and works in New York, NY and Providence, Rhode Island. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Sculpture at Rhode Island School of Design.

Olivia Saporito creates sculptures that intend to give the viewer an antiquated viewing experience - one that explores the capacity to accept the operation of seeing. Saporito is invested in processing the intersection of object, archive, apparatus and image through re-worked found object assemblage, moldmaking, steel, and wood. Saporito intends to create her own parameters within structures, to emphasize that image consumption can have acontrolled environment that affects the experience of the viewer. Structure is integral to the viewing process, and the interaction between the image and the viewer is always in flux. There will always be variables that influence the experience of the viewer, but always within the boundaries set by the structure.
